Elaine Cassandra Franklin Thornton-Miller left this life on 08 May 2025, ready to be with God and His heavenly host. Elaine was born on 09 October 1945 to the union of Harold Eugene Franklin and Dorethea Lorraine Morrow. She lived a full life at high energy, availing herself of what earthly life has to offer and giving her soul to the Lord.
Along with the ups and downs of life, Elaine experienced love and married early in life, having two children from that union. She traveled the world with her U.S. Army husband, making life-long friends around the world and ultimately returning to her beloved Detroit. Elaine settled into a career as a bank teller, sending her children to Berea Lutheran School and introducing them to God through the school and regular attendance at Berea Lutheran Church. Later, Elaine found love again and had two more children from that relationship.
As she settled into her middle years, Elaine remarried and started an adventure in Stone Mountain, Georgia. After good years of retirement living, she was widowed and returned home to Detroit to be among family and old friends. She remarried and was widowed again, but love found her once more and her significant other was folded into life with her family and friends.
Elaine leaves to mourn 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, cousins so close that some were more like sisters, and an abundance of other family and friends across the generations and geography. Elaine was greatly loved, impacted many lives, and will be missed. She waits to greet us on the other side!
